For two decades, Damian Bloss lived in active addiction — a silent battle that defied society’s expectations of what addiction “looks like.” He hadn’t lost his possessions or come from a family history of substance abuse, yet what he did lose was far more profound: he lost himself.
Damian’s downward spiral began after the tragic loss of a close family member to suicide. Consumed by grief and guilt, he turned to alcohol as a way to cope. Over the next twenty years, he cycled through jail, rehab, therapy, and countless failed attempts at recovery. But when everything seemed lost, a moment of clarity changed the course of his life forever.
Today, Damian’s story is one of resilience, transformation, and hope. Sober since February 13, 2020, he has dedicated his life to helping others find freedom from addiction. He is the author of the acclaimed autobiography Breaking the Silence: My Journey from Addiction to Healing and is currently writing his second book, Recovering Out Loud.
Beyond writing, Damian partners with his local detention center to mentor individuals facing drug- and alcohol-related offenses, and he speaks regularly at rehabilitation facilities and recovery events. Through his message, he reminds audiences that no matter how far gone someone may feel, recovery is always possible.
Our vision is a world where no one suffers in silence. We strive to build a compassionate community where mental health and addiction are met with understanding, not stigma — and where every person feels safe, seen, and supported on their journey to healing.
